The Tron Gaming Mouse and Mat designed by Razer are really eye catching! It’s really a fun design that evokes the same visual themes from the movie, and it also  has a start up noise similar to the start up noise from the movie. I just love the blue lights and the industrial design of this mouse. This is a Must Have if you are a Tron movie fan!

My stock SC10 doesn’t use wheel hexes, and the advantage of 12mm wheel hexes is that it allows me to use different tire from a number of different manufacturers. I gain more choices of tires that I can use on my SC10! By doing the 12mm hex conversion, I can now use tires from Traxxas, HPI, and the JConcepts Hazard tire which give me an additional 3mm tire width of stability—the maximum tire width allow by ROAR, Radio Operated Auto Racing—the organization that oversees RC racing.

Hazard Wheels and 12 MM Hex Conversion for the SC10

Recently at my local track, some new racers decided to change things up by running different types of tires. It was literally like a whole new world. Traxxas tires on an SC10 or AKA or Losi Tires on an SC10—all made possible by a 12mm Hex Conversion. It seemed like madness at first until we noticed that the modified SC10’s were winning! In some cases it didn’t matter if there was a 12 MM Hex Conversion as driving skill still mattered a lot! However, we couldn’t deny that the modified SC10’s did in fact drive more stable and seemed to have a better center of gravity.

Monkey see, Monkey do… There are a ton of SC10 to 12 MM Hex conversions out there. Proline has a solution, JConcepts has a solution, and Team Associated also has a solution as well. In Team Associated’s case, modifying a stock RTR makes it more similar to an SC10 4x4 or an SC10GT or SC10RS. I decided that Team Associated has one of the best solutions and the parts required for the 12MM Hex conversion were readily available at my local hobby shop. You will need:

A Hex Wheel Adapter Set - ASC 9883

A Hex Steering  Block Set - ASC 9880

A Tire Hex Set - ASC 9881

A Locknut - ASC 4449

A 12mm Hazard Wheel

It takes about 30-40 minutes to finish up the complete conversion on all 4 wheels, and it makes a stock SC10 much more stable. It’s a Macho Cave Must Have!

Peter Chang Co-Founder MachoCave.TV unboxes Tony’s Screws Associated SC10 Screw Kit 158 pieces. If you ever needed a spare screw or needed a few different screws, you would save some money by getting a screw kit that contains a larger variety of cap, flat, and button head screws! This kit also includes nuts, washers and set screws!

Tony’s Screws Associated SC10 Screw Kit

If you have ever done any repair work on your SC10, you will definitely understand how easy it is to lose a small screw. Also if you are racing or bashing, your SC10 might break or lose a few screws as well.

Going to the local hobby shop to get a replacement screw is easy enough, however you will fill nickeled and dimed as each little screw, washer, or nut packet will cost you between $2.00 to $4.00. So in the long-run purchasing a screw kit makes sense.

For around $28.00 at most hobby shops you can purchase Tony’s Screws 158 piece screw set! Tony’s Screws are well made and are from a high grade alloy steel—they won’t weaken on you like the aluminum Factory Team screws, and they won’t rust either!

Also, there is a sense of pride as Tony has placed his business card in each of the kits. I really can’t think of any other RC part where the owner was so confident of the part that their business card was placed in each kit. And the kit also comes with stickers to adorn your SC10 truck.

I would’ve like to have seen a reusable plastic box with this screw kit or ball heads, and realized that it probably would’ve added to the cost of the kit. Another thought was that if you purchased the screw kit, you are going to need to use a lot of screws, so you may not really need a storage case.

Over all, it’s really nice to see a great kit put together by Tony’s Screws! I really thought the included sticker was funny, and I felt it was great to see that Tony placed his business card in the screw kit! Also, if you are working on building an X Factory SCX-60CF conversion, this screw kit comes in handy with the conversion as well. Tony’s Screws Associated SC10 Screw Kit is a Macho Cave Must Have!

Peter Chang Co-Founder MachoCave.TV unboxes the XFactory SCX-60 CF Conversion Kit for the SC10 RC Truck. This SCX-60 CF contains a lot of carbon fiber and seems to be well made. Also, the man who designed the carbon fiber chassis also signed the number of the kit right on the chassis. In this unboxing we have chassis number 65.

X Factory SCX-60CF Conversion Kit for SC10

X Factory is a small boutique rc firm specializing in Team Associated mid-motor conversion kits. The benefits of a mid-motor are more stability in cornering and higher speeds when driving through corners. Also, you gain more control when cornering as well.

This at times can be a great advantage if the competition track is twisty and windy! There is a slight disadvantage of rear bite on some looser dirt tracks. However, if you are carpet racing indoors or driving on harder clay surfaces, this is the kit to buy!

Overall, I was totally impressed by the amount of carbon fiber used in the kit, and by the quality of the kit, it’s really awesome to see Chris Krieg a.k.a. Speedy Dad the guy who created the chassis and manufactures the chassis hand number each one with pride—I got number 65. In searching the RC forums it sounds like number 65 lands me in the second production run of the SCX-60CF and X Factory will be shipping out the 3rd production run by the end of May.

Stay tuned for a step-by-step build of the Macho Cave SCX-60CF! Overall this conversion kit for the SC10 is a Macho Cave Must Have!

Peter Chang Co-Founder MachoCave.TV reviews the Hudy Allen Wrench! Hudy manufactures these wrenches in Europe and these wrenches are really well made and are really solid! It’s Macho Cave Must Have!

Hudy Allen Wrenches

Hudy is a company that is known for making high end RC tools for professional RC drivers and RC Race Teams. Look at any team driver’s pit and you find quite a few sporting Hudy tools.

Hudy’s Allen Wrenches retail for about $19.00 to $22.00 for each Allen Wrench. This makes the Hudy Allen Wrench about 2 to 3 times more expensive than the competition. For this price premium what do you get? You get a specially formulated spring steel tip that is long lasting, a diamond patterned grip that is designed not to slip out of your hand, and a 120mm shaft that allows for extra torque when you are screwing in a part. Also, the tips are replaceable at around $10-$11. The handle is hollow, and you can purchase matching 18mm caps to color code in your Allen Wrench.

Overall, the Hudy Allen Wrench exudes quality and precision. It’s definitely a head turner in the RC pit bays. It’s a Macho Cave Must Buy!
